I have been looking into installing a gyro that is connected to the aileron servo and in rate mode so that the wings are more stable. I have read a lot and done some experimenrting but have not yet tried flying this way.

If anybody else is doing this, please contact me and we can discuss.

Phil, not using a gyro, but.....have used a unit called a 'co-pilot' from FMA.
It can connect to ailerons and elevator to keep the plane level.
It works very well actually.
Have handed the transmitter to a couple people that had no rc experience.
If it gets in trouble, just let go of the sticks and the plane quiickly uprights itself.
